The University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Information Systems Security Specialist to work within the Computer Center.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field.
Extensive knowledge of network security technologies, including firewalls, proxies, antivirus solutions, and Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS).
Strong ability to identify, assess, and mitigate network and system vulnerabilities using industry best practices and recognized cybersecurity frameworks.
Experience in vulnerability assessment, security hardening, and implementing effective remediation strategies.
Proficiency in patch management processes, ensuring the timely deployment of security updates while minimizing disruption to business operations.
Advanced knowledge of computer networks and operating systems, particularly Linux and Windows.
Solid understanding of cybersecurity risks associated with virtualization, networking, and enterprise infrastructure, with the ability to implement appropriate risk mitigation measures.
Hands-on experience with security technologies, including network firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), endpoint protection, Host Intrusion Prevention Systems (HIPS), antivirus solutions, VPNs, and access control mechanisms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate security incidents, identify threats, perform root cause analysis, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Experience in monitoring security events, analyzing system logs, detecting security threats, and responding to cybersecurity incidents.
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with IT teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to strengthen the organization’s overall security posture.
Strong technical documentation and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare security assessments, technical reports, policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain the security of the University’s systems, networks, applications, and digital services.
Identify, assess, and manage cybersecurity risks, vulnerabilities, and security incidents, and coordinate appropriate remediation and response activities.
Monitor security events, analyze logs, detect potential threats, and support incident investigation and response.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and recommend and implement appropriate security hardening and remediation measures.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of information security policies, standards, procedures, and controls.
Support the implementation and effective operation of cybersecurity technologies, including firewalls, WAF, endpoint protection, IDS/IPS, VPN, and access control mechanisms.
Coordinate with IT teams, vendors, and relevant stakeholders to address security risks and strengthen the University’s overall security posture.
Prepare security assessments, incident reports, technical documentation, and compliance-related reports.
Contribute to increasing cybersecurity awareness and promoting security best practices among University staff and users.
Serve as a key initial resource for establishing and developing a dedicated Information Security and Cybersecurity Unit within the Computer Center.
